The Intermediate Value Theorem (IVT) statement and an intuitive explanation of why it's true. We also take a look at what could go wrong if the condition of continuity is not satisfied. Then we look at the more commonly used special case of this theorem and see what happens when the conditions are not satisfied there.
In a nutshell - if the conditions are not satisfied, we cannot say one way or the other what the result will be. It's very important to keep that in mind.
